I hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of the Summer, the BBQs, holidays, festivals, tucking into rose's, frose's and ice creams and enjoying the sun, sea, wasps and the traffic jams at Treluswell, however I'm sure much to everyone's relief Autumn is just around the corner and the start of the rugby season is nigh.

Falmouth Eagles preparations for the forthcoming season in Western Counties have been good, the cancellation of the warm up game against Lanner was a disappointment, there was an encouraging performance and win against Hayle, even better than the performance was to see Neville Curnow, back at the club, after agreeing to be Eagles manager and physio this season. He has been a massive part of the club for 20 years and it is fantastic to see him back.

What a first league match we have to look forward to on 2nd September!! Home against St Ives, they have shown huge ambition to succeed this season and have recruited Rob Elloway, the Ex Pirates hooker as player coach, along with several other high profile signings, what a way to test ourselves. We need a large, vocal home crowd to back the Eagles. Remember as a club member, at any level or age group you get free entry to watch the Eagles.

One and All,  Falmouth 2nd team, have committed to the Duchy League this season, Martin Webb has accepted the challenge of managing the team and Cameron Bullock will be Captain,  they begin their campaign with a home match against Bodmin, also on September 2nd.

Rugbi Karrek, the combined Falmouth & Penryn colts begin their season at the Rec on the 9th September, this team needs your support, they are the future of our two clubs. They train on wednesday evenings at the Rec, anyone aged 16 to 18 is more than welcome to join this team.

The Mini and juniors have been preparing for the new season, Barry, Toby, Brad and others have been pre season training with their teams and Jade has been working hard to get the infrastructure right for the season, Graham Whitmore our Director of Rugby will be meeting the coaching staff to begin to give adivce and support for everyone.

Off the field, we have been really busy, firstly we all owe Dave Spear and Thursday gang a huge thank you, they have completed the fitting of the new railings at the Rec, which look absolutely magnificent. Dave has also been working closely with Adrian our Bar manager and John 'Proper Job' Williams to complete the renovation of the bar, which also looks great. My thanks to Ashley Searle electrics who fitted a completely new fire alarm system over the Summer. Improvements will continue with the clubhouse and kitchen being repainted and refitted. This is your clubhouse, look to book it, use it and suggest how we can improve it.

St Austell brewery, We have to thank St Austell brewery, with whom we have recommitted as supplier and sponsor, for their  support in refitting the bar and support of the club. As part of the package you will see new Tribute signage and post, flag protectors and bar staff uniform and the sponsorship of a case of Tribute for the Eagles man of the match at every home match.

Skinners Brewery, I am delighted that we have also agreed a sponsorship agreement with Skinners brewery, who continue to give us fantastic support, I was delighted to see the Skinners tent on the ground for Falmouth Carnival and to have a chat with Betty Stogs during Falmouth week, I'm sure we will see Batty at a game or two this season!!

Carnival, This was fantastic, well done Danny Trick for the organisation and from Falmouth Rugby Jade, Andy Hymans and other, I was so proud to see the mini Marine Band out playing the Marine Band through the town and in the marquee!! As for Falmouth week, the club has to thank Dave Addinall, Steve and Dave Burrows for their support in arranging parking for the Red Arrows, which raised funds for the club.

Sponsorship, I would like to thank all our sponsors for your engagement and patience with us, Rosie Fellows has taken over management of our sponsorship team and has been incredible in contacting all existing sponsors and making new contacts to establish how we can work to help eachother for mutual benefit, Andy and Rosie have produced a sponsors brochure detailing available packages on offer. We will continue to liaise with you throughout the season.

Website, Our website has been given a facelift by Jon Baglow, it looks great and has links to a huge amount more information, including a diary of rugby fixtures and social events, gallery, contacts, match report, our sponsors and much more.. Add it to your favourites bar!!!!

International tickets, I have to admit to be slightly overwhelmed by the response for international tickets, we were 4 times oversubscribed for tickets for the Australia match, so apologies for the delay in letting people know if you have been successful in the ballot, you will know this week. I have applied to the RFU for any exchange tickets, so there is a chance of a few more. You can apply for Wales tickets to matches against South Africa and Australia. Details on 6 nations application will be available shortly.

Membership, All club memberships must be renewed during September and can now be paid at the bar, being a club member will accrue you a huge amount of benefits including, free entry to Eagles home matches, discounts at the clubhouse bar and discounts with our sponsors as well as free use of the club gym. Prices and details will shortly be forwarded to you.

Cricket, Falmouth Rugby completed our cricket programme with a series clinching victory against the Seaview  Inn, David Jonah Jones making a vital half century to secure bragging rights until next Summer.

Any comments, suggestions, thoughts or ideas on how we, I or more importantly you can improve our club please contact me (chairman@falmouthrugbyclub.co.uk).

Finally, Kevin Bishop's brilliant film of the Eagles pre season preparation....
