Falmouth 2s won a hard fought victory against Bodmin on Saturday. Playing on a smaller pitch at Falmouth School probably favoured the bigger but less mobile Bodmin side but Falmouth started strongly and after a series of phases involving forwards and backs scored an excellent try with centre Jack Mooney making the touch down that was converted by Cam Bullock. A further period of sustained pressure led to a second try by winger Luke Waters.

Bodmin then came back into the game in the second quarter & scored a converted try but this was answered shortly before half time by a fine run by fullback Archie Roberts, converted by Cam Bullock to make the half time score 19-7 to Falmouth.

Bodmin started the second half well & their big forwards begun to make yardage despite some good defensive sets by the whole Falmouth team. However this period of sustained pressure ultimately resulted in Bodmin scoring two well taken converted tries to lead 19-21 with only 7 minutes remaining.

It is greatly to the credit of the Falmouth Team that heads did not drop and with only a few minutes on the clock the team retained possession through several phases & number 8 Scott Dunstan made a fine break from just inside the Bodmin half to score under the posts with the extra points added by skipper Cam Bullock.

Despite a few anxious moments Falmouth successfully resisted the last few minutes of frantic pressure from Bodmin & ran out winners 26-21.

The man of the match awards were given to Sam Albury & Adam Hincliffe-Walz but all the team deserve mention for what was an excellent team performance.
